This charming Viennese Biedermeier oil sketch is either by Moritz von Schwind or his close circle. His friendship with Franz Schubert inspired Schwind to capture several music scenes (see also another oil sketch „Ein Schubertabend bei Joseph von Spaun“, Reinhard Göltl, Franz Schubert und Moritz von Schwindt, München 1989, title page, sold at Kunstauktionen Hassfurter, 23.10.2017, lot no.1).
An alternative attribution could be Josef Danhauser (1805 - Vienna - 1845).
