With a letter from Prof. Hermann Brommer, Merdingen, dated January 10, 2000.
During his artistic career Franz Joseph Stöber was greatly aided by his uncle, Abbot Landelin Fluem. Our design could have been intended for a monastery church of the Strasbourg Benedictine Congregation; Stöber had painted several times in monasteries of this former congregation. However, many of these monasteries were later destroyed; only in the town church of Ettenheim can Stöber's ceiling paintings still be found in the choir room. The painting is included in the unpublished work list of F.J. Stöber bei Hermann Brommer.
